By the Jerky Dude
As I had mentioned in my earlier blog, I started my business with Polley’s beef jerky in Phoenix in 1984. This article I would like to focus on how convenient beef jerky is to the average person. Because of the preservatives used in the curing process, and this varies greatly for manufacture to manufacture, Jerky is a well rounded snack, as opposed to say a milk chocolate candy bar.
The Weather in Phoenix won’t melt Beef Jerky
Everyone knows especially in Phoenix when the weather gets hot, you change your habits and behavior. A candy bar in 110 degree weather does not stay solid! However, a stick of jerky does not melt, and even in most cases get softer, now this does not mean go out and leave your beef jerky exposed to the elements and good food safety should always be your first choice!
Because most beef jerky does not need to be refrigerated, it makes it the ultimate on the go snack! Another would be extreme cold, now beef can freeze as everyone knows, but having a individually wrapped snack like typically used, makes it easy to carry, light and convenient, and great for back packing, or hiking or even rock climbing. Another point would be the protein value, as a way to get to the hunger pain in a hurry, nothing in my opinion comes close to satisfying a appetite! Perhaps one of the best reason for using the idea that Jerky in the number one convenient snack is its availability. From small stores, to Super markets it would be hard not to find beef jerky. It should be mentioned that the typical code for Beef Jerky can be up to one year from date of production. Which makes it a nice rainy day item, or say in a disaster preparedness kit, or earthquake kit. Just remember to rotate your product on a regular basis, it can get old tasting and the freshest beef jerky is the best! See you out on the hiking trail.
